Went for a week with my wife. Originally booked a queen but changed to a kind when we saw the room and bed size. We stayed in the historic portion and the rooms floored us. Curved vault ceilings, granite counter tops even on the end tables, just azing top to bottom. The Tonga Room can't be missed, best bar tenders we met in San Francisco!! On Top Of The Mark is across the street you HAVE to watch the sunset up there!! The cable car is right outside, beautiful church across the street, although it is cement in "medieval style" and wasn't built too long ago; that was disappointing but still beautiful. Wifi was extra, they wanted $50/day to hook up a dvd player, parking was $65 per day; ouch! The valet was hit or miss. We stayed the week of 4th of July so I know they were busy, but they embodied everything I hate about valet. I had to call at least 20min in advance because I never saw more than 3 people working the valet which wasn't enough to keep the front clear. There were consistently lines out into the road of people waiting just to pull in. One day we walked up from China town and asked for our car. After 30min and I twice I discovered they had pulled it around the side without telling me, then just left it there!! Even though though we literally dreaded the valet, the Fairmont was just too amazing. I will absolutely stay here every time I'm in San Francisco.
