The Palmer House has an exquisite lobby and the staff is very friendly. If you can get a good price, this is a nice hotel in the loop. It is also just down the road from Millenium Park. I am very familiar with the CTA, so this hotel was great in the sense that bus and "L" stops are just a few steps from the doors. With that said, I could hear the "L" very clearly from my room (which at least stops running late at night). Unlike some of the other hotels I have stayed at in Chicago, the Palmer House does not have some of the basic "extras" like a small fridge in the room. Also, the walls are fairly thin. We had interesting "neighbors" that clearly had a volume problem. Altogether, I would definitely stay at the Palmer House again for the right price. But if you are going to pay a premium, there are nicer hotels in Chicago.
