My husband and I just returned home today from a 6-night stay at the Sunspree resort with our 3-year old son. Generally, we usually splurge on vacation but booked the trip last minute and the resort was the only one available that offered a kids club for 3 yr olds. So, we went with an open mind knowing that you pay for what you get. The resort itself was nice, the pool and beach area quite clean and kid friendly. The food was just horrible. Other than breakfast, the food was unedible. We spent a fortune in cabs to local restaurants. The service overall was poor. 90% of the staff was unfriendly and unprofessional. But, we were willing to overlook the shortcomings and enjoy the beautiful weather. However, the day before we were scheduled to depart, the elevator to our room got stuck. We were stuck with our 3 yr old for over 45 minutes before someone even showed up to fix it. It literally felt like an oven and my son was bright red and laying on the floor breathing rapidly With his eyes closed. When the door finally opened, NO ONE even showed up to ask if we were ok (we were physically but were emotional wrecks!) When my husband went to the lobby to speak with a manager to express the lack of concern on the part of the hotel...he laughed under his breath and then basically dismissed him...at which point we immediately checked out and into the Ritz Carlton next door. Parents...do not bring your children to this hotel.
