Check in was a hassle

We arrived at the hotel around 12 p.m. and went to the lobby to check in but was told that their computer system was down and they cannot check us in . They took down our name and number and promised to call us once a room was ready. At around 4:00 p.m. we came back and waited in line again but was told that the computer system was still down. I asked the employee how much longer it'll take and he told me it should be up and running soon but as of right then he couldn't do anything. The front lobby was starting to be packed with people who could not check in. We waited around a few more minutes and went to a different employee who actually did her job (Amanda) and called housekeeping to see if a room was ready and was able to check us in right away. I know this hotel received great reviews for their guest service but I thought it was mediocre at best. The room we were assigned, Room 554 was average. The toilet kept making gurgling noises the whole time. I think there was a plumbing problem but we didn't bother calling guest service. Based on their attitude when we checked in I didn't think there was much they would do about the issue. I guess we were just unlucky to arrive on the day that their system was down.
