The island's natural beauty was this resort's only redeeming feature.

My husband and I spent 4 nights at Sugar Bay Resort with 6 other couples. One of the couples had a wedding ceremony on the rooftop terrace, which was actually quite lovely. We opted for the all-inclusive plan, and were quick to learn that those at the resort who weren't on the plan were paying outrageous prices for their food and drink: $9 for a can of Coors Light, $10 for weak mixed drinks, $45!! per person for Sunday brunch, etc. The food was barely edible and was obviously recycled between buffets. The rooms were outdated and didn't feel particularly clean. The outdoor dining portion of the bar/restaurant by the pool was overrun with seagulls, iguanas and rude staff. We had a bay view room, which had a spectacular view. Our building was the "gateway" to the pool and beach, meaning that everyone who was headed to/from the pool and/or beach had to walk through our building to get to the NINETY-EIGHT steps that lead down to that area. This resort is on the side of a mountain, so bring your stamina. There is a shuttle that will take you to the pool, but it was a huge uphill walk from our building to get to the shuttle, so it made more sense to take the stairs. I am so thankful we did not have our children with us. There was very little organized activity, and I know they would have been miserable. Nightlife here was nonexistent. In a nutshell: WAY overpriced, compared to other all-inclusives I've been to, dirty, rude staff, bad food and weak drinks. Go elsewhere.
