This hotel was a disappointment from the moment we walked through the door. Although we arrived at 3:30 p.m. the room was not ready and we had to wait 50 minutes for the room. The lobby is small and the furniture is worn and uncomfortable. The room was shabby. The carpet was coming away from the wall, the TV is old and the room was dark despite having all of the lights/lamps turned on. The bathroom is long and narrow with the shower at one end and the toilet at the other. The towels are hung above the toilet so they are at least 15 feet away from the shower. Take your towel with you to the shower to avoid walking across the very slippery floor while wet! There is only one computer in the lobby for the guests to use. There was always a wait and the internet connection was very slow both days we were there. The breakfast buffet was okay, but the staff was not very prompt in refilling items. The fruit tray was empty when we went in to eat and after 30 minutes there still was not any fresh fruit out to replace it. The front desk staff were polite, but not overly helpful. We had to ask detailed questions to get the information we needed. The tourist office was much more helpful. This hotel is on the water and the views outside are beautiful. However, I would absolutely not rate this hotel as 3 stars. It is two stars at most. I would not stay here again simply because I can get a better hotel and room for the same price on the other side of the harbor in Bryggen and be closer to the sites anyway.
