On their toes.

I've stayed on the Queen Mary twice now and I'm sure I'll be back while visiting my daughter in Long Beach again. The two rooms I've had were snug, but comfortable (like a ship). They have done an excellent job of remodeling while preserving the look of the original ship. It's fun to be able to cruz around the whole boat. The one meal I had was at the Chelsea Restaurant and it was good , but the menu was touristy and unremarkable. The drinks in the forward bar were strong. The on their toes part was for the staff's handeling of a false fire alarm that went off in the rooms at 11pm, instructing us to immediatly leave the ship. Before we could get out of the room, we were told that it was a false alarm. I was relieved that I didn't have to run for the dock in my PJ's. A note was delivered under our door the next morning explaining what had happened. I don't know what actually set the alarm off, but I respect how they handled it.
