Could Be Better For It's Brand

I was a little surprised when I arrived at this hotel. I was expecting it to be a little more high-end since it carried the "The Westin" brand, but this hotel could use some sprucing up a little. Westins are usually higher end with a more modern decor in a tasteful way. The rooms, amenities and common areas feels like they were stuck in the late-90s. The rooms are a little outdated with wall to wall carpet that seems a bit dirty. We were a group of six visiting PA for the The Falling Water Tour, so we decided to spend two nights at The Westin. Two of my buddies and I stayed in a business suite which had two double-beds and one pull-out sofa over in the other end of the room. The room was a spacious size (approx. 700+ sq. ft.). When I called up the concierge to ask for an extra set of sheets/duvet/comforter so my buddy can sleep on the pull-out, they brought us this raggedy looking "sheet" (not a comforter or duvet) and it had disgusting stains all over it that was visible in every possible way. The wifi access was complimentary since we were in a business suite, so that's a plus. Breakfast buffet at the restaurant is average, but very well priced. Since this hotel was a fish market at one point, the original seafood restaurant in the lobby remained and became their signature restaurant/bar. However, every time we step foot into that restaurant regardless of what time of the day or night it is, there is always a foul stench of raw fish and it's far from pleasant. It's enough to make anyone to turn around and walk out of the place. The snack and gift shop in the lobby is super expensive. A bottle of Evian water costs $7, what rip off! Cost of parking is not too bad, $20 for self-parking, $22 for valet which is average for most downtown areas. Obviously, spending the $2 extra to go with valet parking is a no brainer. This hotel is in situated in a very convenient location, which is right in the heart of Downtown Pittsburg. It's very close to many restaurants and easy walk to museums and other site seeing activities. Being that this is the only nice looking hotel in the business convention center, I had higher expectations, especially for a Westin establishment. This hotel can certainly use additional "sprucing up", if they want to keep up with the other Westin establishments.
