Safety concern, but nice hotel

Resort was nice and staff like Abel, Samuel, and Augustine were just wonderful. Safety concerns - made sure my room was locked before I left anywhere but repeatedly returned to find patio door not just unlocked but open. I even put a chair in front of it once and the chair was moved. Another member of our party had all of her money stolen from a locked in room safe. Security said they would 'look into it' but made no contact after that. Restaurant concerns - very hard to get reservations at any of the non-buffet restaurants. Even when VIP service made and wrote down the reservation information (which took an average of an hour and a half a day sitting in the VIP area trying to get a reservation for that day or the next), the restaurants said they had no name/room number/confirmation and were all full. For the week. Tipping is expected from Americans (this is from the staff, who told us so!). Found that tipping $1 in the morning for housekeeping and $1 at night for turn down sometimes resulted in the cash being gone but the 'job' not done. Tips also for the tram and the water at the beach/pool. Keep in mind that this is a tropical/hot/sweaty location. It didn't look that comfortable for the babies...but the pools were nice and the ocean was warm. The pools and beach access close at 7pm. Dancers in the Michael Jackson show worked hard, but had technical problems and had to stop early. Other shows were similar. Easy entertainment.
