I have stayed at the Huntington Beach Hotel once or twice each year since 1997, as I do business in the Huntington Beach area. I have seen the hotel in all its' iterations over that time which has included several changes of ownership as well as typical clientele. After the three years of lobby renovation there does not seem to be any construction currently going on. Could they now start the renovation of the elevators which have not been touched for ten years and start upgrading the rooms? The rooms are dated, a little rundown, but as clean as any in the price range. The hotel is hard on the 405 and convenient to everything save the beach. The best thing is the breakfast wait staff in the dining room. Those gentlemen are polite, gracious and completely dedicated to making sure all their guests are happy. I fear it is lost on most of the current guests, but that does not seem to hamper their professional attitude. I would recommend ordering off the menu instead of the buffet, as the price for a full breakfast cooked to perfection is only $7.50. The hotel is currently popular with business people and tourists from China, so it is always bustling in the lobby, but quiet up on the floors. For some reason i am always put on the seventh floor and in four nights never heard noise while in my room. Maybe I am just comfortable and familiar with the property, but for the price I think you can do no better in the area.
