Cigarette Smoke, bad service, and no rooms available

One of the worst places I've ever stayed. I don't even know where to start. Got there at 2:55pm (check-in is 3pm# on a Sunday, and the UNfriendly front desk lady told me they needed another hour for a room to be ready, and pointed to all the others in the lobby that were ahead of me. She actually suggested I go to the beach and wait it out. Two hours later #5pm#, I called them to check on my status, this time got a different person who told me there still wasn't any rooms available yet. I pitched a fit over the phone and magically a room was ready for us. We eventually checked in to our room on the 3rd floor. It had the most nastiest cigarette smoke smell ever. We finally figured out it was coming from the vent in the bathroom and tried keeping the bathroom door shut, but eventually we gave up and by 10pm we demanded a new room. My 6yr old son was literally crying because he was refusing to the bathroom. I called the front desk and told them and she was already aware of the problem and explained that others had already complained. Apparently the 4th floor was the "designated smoking" floor but the stench seeps into the 3rd floor too. Unfortunately we would have to wait until morning for a new room. The next morning, we sat around till 12:30pm before they finally gave us a new room. I felt like they were TRYING to ruin my vacation. We got the new room, it was nice and clean. The bathroom was a nice size. However, the A/C unit had a mind of it's own and would just stop working, especially in the middle of the night. The refrigerator made so many odd noises and kept waking me up. We learned after Day 2 to keep the "do not disturb" sign on the door or the cleaning people would come at 9am and wake us up. We never got new soap after the first day. We had to ask for additional towels #and had to go get them ourselves#. The free breakfast was decent. The man who took care of it was very nice. Although, I heard several complaints from others that the front desk person was often MIA. I noticed it too, especially in the morning time. The pool was boring looking. There is a very nice restaurant next door called BrewBurgers that was surprisingly delicious. My bill came with a $1 per day "in room safe" charge that was never disclosed to me. My suggestion, don't stay here unless you are forced too, and if you are a nonsmoker, demand a room on the 1st and 2nd Floor. I would loved to have been asked, "How was your stay?" on my way out the door, but there was no one at the front desk to see us go #at 11am#.
