This was a trip for our 25th wedding anniversary so needless to say we were excited and looking forward to staying at the Jekyll Island Club. Driving up to the hotel is exquisite; beautiful grounds, grand entrance, exactly as we had hoped. Our room was another story; small, dirty carpet, worn and frayed bed spread, and peeling paint on the window that barely opened. The bathroom sink came to my knees? My husband is 6' 3" so imagine him trying to use the sink! When we ask for another room we were told that there were not any to be had although the occupancy rate was at 85%. Sunday brunch also was a disappointment. We were told beforehand that it was recommended that men wear coats. Sitting beside people in jeans and t-shirts took away from the expectation as did being seated near the drink cart in the middle of the room when there were plenty of empty tables by the window. This has definitely seen its day!
