The hotel itself was old but fairly clean. The indoor pool and hot tub are one of the few amenities that might set it apart from some of the other low rent hotels. The courtyard is nice if you have kids or a dog to run around. It is in very close proximity to Hearst Castle, and just across the main road from the beach. The downside? You can hear absolutely everything your neighbors are doing. It was very loud and some of the guests were not quiet. You get what you pay for. The other problem I had is that the maid came by to clean our room at about 8AM, which is a little too early, and then left and never came back. I called the front desk to see if we could get some clean towels and she said I should hunt down the maid and ask her for some. I ended up going to the hotel linen closet and getting my own. Bottom line, bring ear plugs and don't expect to many amenities.
