Get out your wallet

If you are planning a trip to Fess Parker Hotel in Santa Barbara be prepared to get out your wallet. It costs for everything. Parking is $18 a day and internet is added to your bill $10.95 a day (they try to sneak this one in). There is a different sign in your room about internet which is a little more expensive if you want it. Very contradicting, I never figured this one out. Staff was friendly but our check in agent did not tell us about anything other than where to find our room. I found out more by talking to the bell man (Dave). There is a bus that you can take for .25 to Stearns Wharf and downtown. Our bed was comfortable, however, the carpet was very dirty and had a hole in it. Coffee maker was cheap and didn't work right. Our garden room was noisy with the people walking upstairs. The room service charges are quite high as are the other resturaunts. $50 for breakfast for 2. The pool is nice but only one pool for the whole resort. People would stake out their chairs early morning with their towels and then leave. When we got to the pool hardly anywhere to sit. Lots of kids here, which was a surprise. We probably would not stay here again. There are plenty of more resonable hotels in the area that would be just as nice and much less expensive. So bottom line is that if you have a big wallet this is a place for you. If not there is a Motel 6 right around the corner, also Cabillo Inn and Santa Barbara Inn are lovely. If you want to stay downtown look into the Hotel Santa Barbara. Also if you do go walking on the beach you will get oil on your feet or shoes, so wear something you don't care about.
