We took a weekend trip to check out the Hearst Castle and decided to stay here since it was conveniently close - only 4 miles from the castle! We arrived late in the evening, and the lady at the front desk was extremely accommodating and friendly. She definitely made us feel welcome to the motel. I loved the room with the fireplace - for a chilly evening outside, it was a perfect touch to heating the room. The room has a wonderful homey feel, which most motels typically lack. We felt like we were in a master bedroom in a house and not a hotel by the beach. Even the two toned neutral walls are a wonderful, inviting touch, as opposed to the typical stark white. There are definitely two areas the motel could work on - first, providing shampoo, lotions, and soaps for their guests - we didn't have any in our room when we arrived and had to go downstairs to ask for some. My advice is bring some conditioner or lotion in case they don't have it - we only got shampoo and soap. Second, the breakfast is okay, but it's the typical yogurt, bagels, muffins, and boxed cereals. Not a fan of the cold hard-boiled eggs. Some fresh fruit of some kind would be nice. Aside from those few things, we would definitely stay again for the price, the cleanliness and appearance, and the location!
