A friend of ours and I spent 5 days in Cozumel in May of 2010. She was doing her OW cert and I was diving. It was easy to catch a taxi from in front of the hotel and we paid for the ocean front room which we absolutely loved. It was clean and the air was fresh. We found our rudimentary Espanol was perfectly adequate to communicate but we didnt really need them for anything. The little balconies are great for drying gear and youre close to everything. If you want a resort or fawning you wont get that. We had a blast and would go there again. To us it was quite a treat after a basic nights lodging at the Safari Inn which was also fine. You can get whatever you want in Cozumel and most are great. Some people want more pampering some less. Of course it wasnt silent but who cares? Its just fine for a downtown hotel which is what we wanted. Very comfortable. Maids are super nice and brought us more towels when we asked. And wow! They speak Spanish. I wonder why they do that? Could it be because theyre in like Mexico?
