I booked a room here over a month before my trip, and was charged for it one week later. I do not normally book hotel rooms, so it did not seem strange to me that I was charged before my stay. When I show up at the hotel the day of my stay, they had lost my reservation, so I printed it out for them in the hotel lobby computer. They still could not find it. The clerk was basically accusing me of lying about having a reservation when he had my confirmation email in his hand. I told the clerk I wanted a refund, and he told me he had NEVER charged me!! I pulled up my bank statement online to show him, and he said that he had swiped my card that day and I had signed for the room. Basically, they had somehow used my credit information I had entered online when I booked the room to pay for another guests stay one week later. As if the situation wasn't bad enough, the man that was helping me basically kicked me out of his hotel lobby-- after losing my reservation AND charging my card for another patron's stay. It was a really crappy way to start the first hour of my vacation. I ended up staying at the Days Inn about 1/2 mile down the street which was a fantastic experience with a beautiful room of downtown Monterey. Not only did Days Inn get us a room swiftly and without problems, they charged us for the same rate we were getting at Cypress ;when it should have been at least $* more;. PLEASE do not stay at this hotel. It was a horrible experience for me and I did not even stay the night there!
