My room was fine, but...

My room was fine, but you might not be so lucky. The hallway in other areas of the floor where I stayed weren't clean and smelled quite bad. Also: my room commanded a view of the atrium, with no exterior views. I didn't know this was a possibility, and certainly wouldn't have chosen it had I known. The staff wasn't rude, but they weren't helpful either. I was struggling with more than usual baggage when I checked in, but no one at the door offered to help me. I was given poor directions to my room (don't laugh?it's a very large facility!), told there was no drugstore within walking distance when there was, didn't get more coffee or bottled water in my room after the first night, had to pay for slow internet service in my room...these are not terrible things, but at the price, I think a traveler should expect the niceties to all be in place. And had I been unlucky enough to have a room in the dirty areas... I can't recommend this hotel to people visiting Birmingham.
