I just returned from a 9-day business trip to Paris during which I stayed the entire time at the Hotel Minerve. This quaint hotel is located in the picturesque Latin Quarter with close access to the Metro. My room was smaller than a college dormitory but clean and very affordably priced at 93 euros. The bathroom presented the biggest challenges with no electrical outlets for hair appliances and a shower that was too small for bending over without risking head injury. The walls in the hotel are so thin that conversations are easily heard by neighbors or passersby in the hallway. Even so, the only truly negative comment relates to the young woman who staffed the front desk during weekday afternoon hours. She was aloof, bordering on blatant rudeness. In fact, her behavior became a joke among my peers because she personifies the negative French stereotype. Gratefully, the two gentlemen who staffed the desk at other times were very cordial and helpful. I would have rated "Staff and Service" as "Excellent" if not for the sour young female desk attendant. All in all, the hotel was a good value for the price.
