The Le Notre Dame Hotel is very Europeon, but nice. The room size depends on its location in the building, but the Cathedral views are worth the price. The location is absolutely fantastic--easy Metro access, lots of places to eat from inexpensive to higher end. You can walk from here to most of the central Paris sights or take Metro. Sitting in the plaza of NotreDame in the evening is fantastic, or taking in the art market behind it on Sunday afternoon are great activities.
The staff is on and off--one year they are fantastic and the next a little less so. If you are first time Paris Travelers and want to buy things from them, like On/Off bus tickets, etc., they will be very helpful. However, this is typical in my experience and not a bother at all.
The rooms are very clean.
My only complaint is that bathtub has a hand held spray, and no curtain. I guess it is OK to drench the room, but it always makes me nervous. We also stayed there during the international rugby tournament one year. The weather was warm, and the noise was high. That was the only time we were bothered by noise, and I feel it was an exception.
