Curtains please!!!!

We stayed at the Ambassador for a long weekend. Hoped that the charm factor of the old building, wood floors, etc would be great, and while the floors were beautiful old floors and there was exposed brick and wood beams in our room, the room wasn't very clean and the bathroom was gross: either the grout was naturally fuzzy black or there was a mold problem. No mold smell, but no "clean" smell either! Tiled sink area was falling apart and seemed both unsafe and dirty(mold and spots). Towels, linens, etc were clean, and changed daily. Comfortable bed w/2 pillows, made up without fitted sheets on the mattress so by morning things were tangled and twisted. The thing that I found very unsettling was the lack of curtains in the room. We had an inside room, yet there were 2 windows that looked into some sort of very dark closet, and both windows as well as the glass door that you use to enter from the hallway had flimsy white blinds. None of the blinds shut properly so we had creepy black spaces from the windows and tons of light pouring in all night through the blinds on the door. Just didn't feel private and, honestly, it was difficult to sleep with the level of light from the hall. We recommended that they consider curtains to make things more comfortable. Definitely would not stay here again unless curtains are added. Location is great: only a few minutes of walking will get you to the French district and to the riverwalk/casino. Great restaurants literally all around -- again, walk 3 minutes to Emeril's place, etc, 5 to the French district and you're golden. Not all bad... but the bad outweighed the good in our opinion.
