We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express this spring on our family trip to Cancun. We had two rooms for 5 nights. The price was very reasonable for Cancun. The hotel offers a free breakfast that was very good. The only real complaint I had was that the time that we were there the gift shop - which hours were posted as 7:30 am to 11 pm - was open only twice - once when we first arrived and once when we left. This was a problem because there were no vending machiens and it was the only place to get a drink or a snack - otherwise we had to walk down the street. Apparently it was a staffing situation and not common place. It's location is in a very quiet residential sort of area - not really near the bars or shopping - but they are only about a 3 to 5 minute drive away - definitly not within walking distance. The rooms were nice, however they weren't very though with the cleaning - but we spoke with our housekeeper about it and the problem was fixed. The staff is alright - not overtly friendly - but none in Cancun are. They don't speak alot of english - so be sure to brush up on your spanish. The business center was efficent. One big plus was that we had lots of hot water with good pressure - which can be hard to come by when in this area. Overall it's a good space to stay as a base camp if your doing alot of touring as we were - if you're just looking to spa or spend time on the beach I would not reccomend it
