Outstanding place. We have vacationed every year for the last four years in Montreal, and have stayed at Le Square Phillips based on initial reviews on Tripadvisor. Its well located. Its within walking distance from chinatown, old montreal, and parc royal. We used the subway (weeks pass for those 6 and over is 20$ + card 6$) for the rest. The subway station is across the square. The staff are super helpful. They know the city, its rhythms and sites quite well. The front desk, concierges and cleaning staff were consistently among the best we have ever met in all our travels. The rooms are large; especially good for young children. The building has been upgraded very well. No issues with plumbing/ air control etc ( as might be expected for a building of this vintage). Wifi was good but could be a tad faster (especially if using VPN). My only very minor advise/ quibble is that you get to breakfast by 8.15 the latest, since it gets crowded in August with a lot of late rising Americans (like us).
