I and my friend both retired Seniors, were looking for an economical hotel accessible to Brooklyn addressess and Manhattan via subway. Red Carpet filled the bill. Subway at side and in front of hotel across the street. Admittively, we were amused by the variety of comments, pro and con.But since we both are world travelers,Europe,Caribean, Canada most of USA and have taken trips with youth groups throughout ,we were pleasantly surprised. Staff was helpful, courteous, pleasant, and generally appeared to appreciate our patronage. Rooms were clean and have microwave and refrige , beds comfortable, towels plentiful, and when we experienced a problem with a lamp, and bath room, both were rectificed in a speedy manner. Two restaurants ,two luncheonettes are across the street. Coffe, donuts, bagels,in lobby daily. I recommend the Latino one for dinner especially if you like shrimp dishes. If you are looking for value, and don't mind riding multiple subways to Manhatttan (even the "A" train Express),don't care about neighborhoods, and going to be in Brooklyn specifically, this the place for you. They even had the ride to LaGuardia available at a very nominal price. One thing though,be SURE YOU PULL THE OUTSIDE DOOR TO HALL CLOSE. It closed but not completely.
