My husband and I stayed at the Privilege Aluxes on Isla Mujeres in September and had a wonderful stay. I can go on and on about how great our trip was. The hotel room is more like a spacious Condo, beautiful bathroom, roomy bedroom with a TV and stereo, Gigantic living room with nice seating. the deck was wonderful with a jacuzzi and enough room to throw a party. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a straight on and side view of the gorgeous water as well as the pool area. We tried to upgrade to the pool suites while we were there but they were booked, i'm not sure how much more we would have enjoyed ourselves in the larger suite because to be honest this room had more than enough space. The staff was very friendly and once they knew you liked drinks on the beach they were very attentive each day during our daily sun tan ritual. Jorge was our favorite, he served us daily at the pool bar and was helpful with restaurant recommendations. If i could critique the hotel in one way it would be that our room had a slight mold smell and there were small areas on water damage to the drywall ceiling. I'm not sure if they were addressing these issues because several of the rooms were being renovated during our stay. the breakfast buffet was decent, everything was edible but somewhat redundant they served basically the same thing every day. It was nice to have it included in the stay though. We didn't really try any of the other restaurants in the hotel because the local food was so great. room service food was just ok so i guess that deterred us from trying the restaurants for dinner. The beach by the hotel seemed to be the best section of beach on the island, it was pristine and quiet. Water was gorgeous and warm. Overall an excellent experience. No hotel is perfect but this was pretty close.
