Good experience, but would not repeat

My stay at this hotel was an excellent experience, with the exception of one glaring issue. When I arrived, the desk clerk took my credit card and attempted to place an 'authorization' on it (presumably for expenses incurred during my stay). The card was refused twice, and I got it back. I went on about my business, chalking it up to a banking glitch of some sort. After I arrived back in the States, I found my card had been blocked by the issuing bank because of two large transactions attempted by the hotel - one for over $200 and the other for more than $300. I was unable to use my card at all until I physically went to the bank itself and explained the situation. This concerns me for a number of reasons - for one, the hotel didn't explain to me how much they were trying to 'authorize'. Had I known they were trying to authorize such large amounts, I would have taken the card back immediately. Second, the fact that my card was blocked put me in a minor financial bind. Had I not had enough cash on my person at the time, it would have been difficult for me to get back home. Needless to say, I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone for any reason.
