A Perfect Get-Away-From-It-All Location

From my own research in booking our vacation, I knew Sea Splash was small, but when the shuttle stopped and my wife and I got off, I wondered if I had made a mistake. I wondered if the remaining passengers on the bus thought we had chosen a dive, because the road front of the property was small and understated, unlike the international resort chains. I stayed optimistic because the reviews had been overwhelmingly positive. After a short walk down a lush path, we came to the front desk. Check-in was easy, and from then on the staff greeted us by name. We had a regular king bed room (if we can go back, we're getting a suite) and first impression was that it was small and hot. However, our trip was not to a hotel room, so the size wasn't an issue. The heat was, though, and when I went to turn on the air conditioner it did not (wall-mounted, remote controlled). After a brief episode of wondering if Sea Splash had moved to a pay for A/C policy (as I read some other properties had) I realized the remote seemed light and found that it did not have batteries. This was remedied at the front desk immediately, and no other room problems arose. The bed was...firm. More so than I am used to, but I did not have any trouble sleeping. The TV was adequate with many channels, including Jamaican, US, and other nationalities (I remember German and Indian specifically). The windows do not completely separate you from the outside. To the left and right of the glass are screened sections that have adjustable louvered shutters that you can close to keep out the light but aren't air tight. Norma's Restaurant is very good. We ate there each morning and twice for dinner on a four night trip. It's slow, but then, everything in Jamaica is slow. Expect a half hour minimum from sitting down to getting food, and probably closer to an hour. It's on the beach, though, so there's always something to look at. Breakfast is faster than dinner. It's not cheap, but it's not any more expensive than any
