Kimpton is a fairly new chain among the four-star biggies, but I decided to branch out on a trip to Boston last fall and try a Kimpton. I was not disappointed. The decor is eccentrically hip, with each hotel bearing a different theme. I think the Cambridge Kimpton where I stayed was Adventure. The room had animal print carpeting, and my friend and I each had our own animal print bathrobes. The TV cabinet/minibar was decorated with a old world map. The hotel lounge was plush and comfortable, with a working fireplace. Each afternoon wine is served for free. The staff was friendly and helpful, and although our concierge tried his best to steer us to a local eatery for breakfast, we got hopelessly lost. Still, he did provide a map and spent a lot of time talking with us about the area. I would definitely stay at this Kimpton again, and I will gladly try a Kimpton in another city.
