When my husband and I stayed at the Grand Colony Island Villas, we truly were pleased. Overall, the hotel property itself was lovely, and the 2-bedroom villa we stayed in was absolutely beautiful with all of the top-notch amenities one would expect -- the granite countertops, the stainless steel kitchen appliances, the A-1 wood furnishings, the fancy stone surfaces in the bathrooms (yes 2 in the villa!). I even enjoyed being able to wash our swimsuits and things out in the washing machine and dryer also in the room! The only shortcomings of this property: no restaurant or swim up eatery/bar on the property (walked to the hotel restaurants on both sides of the Grand Colony) and the beach was FILTHY (stinky seaweed, debris, and garbage had piled up on the beach so much so that the beach in front of the Colony was unusable and Colony had hired a contractor with a bulldozer type machine to start the clean up about the 3rd or 4th day into our stay. We literally used the beach and beach chairs of the hotel beside the Colony, and we swam in the lovely Colony pool to avoid Colony's foul beach. Other than that Ambergris Caye, Belize and the helpfulness and service at Grand Colony were all excellent.
