This is by far the most convenient place to stay when going to the parks. You can jump over to the hotel and take a mid afternoon break or drop stuff at the hotel without losing your stride. The Grand Californian is magical. The lobby is huge and adorned with the feel of giant lumber with open beams. Comfy chairs act as little "nests" to meet up and relax with friends and family. The hotel is expensive (as is everything at the park), but if you can swing it, it's worth well worth it.
