We chose the hotel for our March 2011 trip, after exhaustive research on Venice hotels on the web... we were able to get a great web rate, and the reviews were very positive. And no wonder! This little boutique hotel is family-run yet professional. The front desk staff are welcoming and ready to help with restaurant tips, maps, directions, etc. When I booked online, I received an email offering to pick us up at the airport in a boat (they also offered flowers and champagne in the room upon arrival - for a price!) for EUR100. Though expensive, it was our first time in Venice and we'd heard about the difficulties navigating the city, so we took the option. It was worth it - no public transit hassles, no waiting, and as close to the front door as you can get on a boat. The location, although only a 20 minute walk to San Marcos square, is fantastic - the street isn't completely overrun with tourists, yet it's so close enough to wherever you want to go. And it was quiet (although most of Venice is pretty dead after 10pm). Perfect. The lobby is very cool. Everything in Venice is old, and this hotel has the old brick walls and beams of the ancient house it resides in, and yet has been fully updated with modern design. The elevator is pretty tiny, I'm surprised they could fit it into the narrow building in the first place. The room was clean, comfortable, boutique and unique. The bathroom was unreal, laid out in reddish-pink marble all around (16' ceilings!), massive soaker tub, and heated towel rack. Breakfast every morning was included, and is standard continental fare - cheeses, yoghurt, meats, great espresso, juices, bread, etc. Highly recommended. We'll be back.
