Beautiful hotel, however, after returning home from a 7-day stay, I examined my credit card bill and noticed an additional charge on there made by the US Grant. We prepaid thru travelocity so the only charge on my credit card bill should've been for the parking, which was expensive but we knew that before going there. The additional charge was approximately $300.00. We reserved and paid for 2 rooms. Our daughters stayed in one and my husband and I stayed in the other. I went over the bill we received at checkout time and no charges other than the parking were on there, so I couldn't imagine what it was for. I called the hotel and was told by a gentleman that they put a hold on my credit card bill for that amount in case there were damages to the room, or any missing items. (a few weeks later???) I called the credit card company and they said it went through as a charge, not a hold and it should not have. They immediately started the process of disputing the charge. I called the hotel again a few days later and told them I wanted that charge taken off my credit card. The woman who answered the phone said the extra $300 was due to the room upgrade to a luxury suite (a totally different story from the first person I spoke with). Why would we upgrade one of our rooms when our daughters were in an adjoining room? This was ridiculous. I asked her to check her records again; we absolutely did not upgrade one of our rooms. She said she would look into it and get back to me. A few days later she returned my call and stated that she would take that charge off my credit card, acting like they were doing me a favor by doing so. No apology or explanation of some mix-up they had. Needless to say, we won't return to the U.S. Grant.
