Love the location ... wish it was a block west, so that it would be right across the street from seaside village but its only a block to walk. being outside of the traffic of the gaslamp area while having harbor drive nearby is perfect to get around but still be nearby. love that there's the two beds PLUS the sofa sleeper, as our two children are not the same gender and are older ...for the same price as other two bed only rooms in town. The staff are very kind, quick and amazing. The only negetive experience we had was with, ironically, the concierge ... who isn't available well and doesn't return calls or isn't always kind ... so do your own planning well and don't depend upon that service. The front desk staff actually stepped up for us and solved our problem when we needed some help, so its all good. if you're on the west or north side of the building, the view of the ocean is nice. we stayed over the holiday bowl and it was cool to watch the ballooms coming down the street during the parade. be very aware that the daily parking rate is spendy and you can't just get to your car if you forget something - its offsite and valet. but the value is still good, when you compare the rate with the extra sofa bed/suite to others without the parking fee in the area. many hotels in SD have parking fees, so do your research. free breakfast is always nice. just be prepared to be up earlier and for the line, as this is a family hotel. It was also nice to have a little relaxation time and a free drink at the managers reception each night. but we were sadly disappointed at how cheesy the managers reception actually was ... my husband travels a great deal and his past experience with embassy suites nightly receptions has been great in other cities ... still have the drinks but the appetizers include only styrofoam bowls for popcorn/pretzels/junk, which was a bit humorous, actually. but, hey, can you complain about whats free? no, you just appreciate it and realize its their
