We stayed in Vienna during one of the coldest period in recent years. For the week we were there the temperature never got above 0C. It was important to us to be near the underground to get around the city. Altstadt is about five blocks from the entrance. The hotel occupies parts of 4 floors in a building. It shares the building with private apartments and offices including a doctors office. The hotel rooms are on floors that are exclusive to the hotel. Our original room was on the mezzanine at the end of a rather long hallway. It was a handicapped room with a walk in shower. Unfortunately the shower was not designed correctly and the room flooded when the shower was used. It was apparent when we examined the flooring in the room that this was not the first time the shower had flooded the room. When we complained about the flooding we were assured that we would be moved to another room by the time we returned from our excursions for the day. And we were. Our final room was on the top floor with a view of the building roof across the street. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was a good variety of dishes similar to those of other hotels that we stayed at during our stay in Germany and Austria (mostly Hilton and Westin properties). The staff was very friendly and anxious to please. There are several small, neighborhood restaurants with good menus for evening meals. If you are not looking for the luxury of a Hilton or comparable property, this might be the right fit for you.
