I have stayed at the Riu Tropical bay on 3 occasions. I have not been disappointed. The most beutiful beach I have ever been on with large palm and hardwood trees on the beach. Would not recommend if you are planning alot of water activities as the equipment (kyacks, etc. ) are less than "palacial". Located facing directly west, I have photographed some spectacular sunsets. Located near another Riu and on a large stretch of beach, you can walk to the other hotel where they have a fish reserve, so you can snorkel without taking a boat ride. Restaurant reservations is a hassle (need to make reservations the day you want to go) and unless you are fond of buffets, would not recommend.
