Long Weekend in Charleston

First off, the location is FANTASTIC... we walked all over Downtown Charleston starting right from our hotel. You can see the Inn from the Market, too, which was pretty cool. I booked this inn for a long weekend for my boyfriend's birthday. After I made the reservation online, I called the hotel to let them know it was for a birthday and to order some champagne to be in our room upon arrival. The man at the front desk was extremely friendly and obliging. When we arrived, the lobby was very charming, and check-in was simple enough. When we went to our room, however, the bed was on it's side being glued by two workers, the mattress was up against the wall, and all we could do was drop off our bags and go out into the city. By the time we got back, everything was back to normal. The room was quite charming and the furniture was all very nice and not typical of a cookie-cutter hotel. Be careful of the small parking lot at the inn. There are (here as well as in other lots downtown) metal posts that mark the parking spaces. The lot is very small and difficult to manuever in, and my boyfriend actually ended up scraping the rental car while trying to get out of a space.
