My girlfriend and I made our first trip abroad (from the US) with much apprehension. Luckily, we lucked into a week at the Crowne Plaza in London, as our base for a week long vacation in London proper. The hotel is in a GREAT location for our travel needs, as it was within about 150 feet of the tube station, and there was a 'real' grocery store directly across the street...so super quick access to the tube AND a store to grab munchies to stash in our hotel for breakfast, and the occasional lunch in. The only 'negative' to the place is that while they offer free internet..it's ONLY in the lobby...internet in your room costs money. That's inconvenient...but not the end of the world. While I'm sure there are other good places in this great town...this place makes for a great place to carry out a foot based tour of London, and to see all the sites. Everything you'll want to see on a first trip to London is withing a 5-10 minute tube ride from your hotel front door. Added bonus is a post office directly next door...plus...it's a pretty nice neighborhood...so our perception was it's a safer area, than some of the other areas we visited. Overall....great place to stay...especially for two people (our room was small, as apparently most London hotels tend to be...so not sure about having a family along, at least in a room our size). Staff were great...helpful, and no surprise charges or anything... I would definitely stay here again, without hesitation.
