I stayed at this hotel just recently. Although the staff (for the most part) were very pleasant, and the rooms and amenities were nice for the price, I still felt cheated. This hotel is known locally as "the weekend family hangout". And the staff and management are fully aware that the local public comes to use the pools, hot tubs and facilities. The staff and management is OK with this because they are "paying customers at the bar". When I asked one of the staff members how many of the people in the pool area were hotel guest and how many were local regulars, she said with a smile "about 50:50". This population explosion poolside resulted in an overcrowded pool, 20-40 minute waits at the poolside bar to place an order, and a competition for poolside spot and lounge chairs. Additionally it results in an abundance of unsupervised children in the pool area. When I consulted a couple of other local residents about my experience, they also confirmed that the Holiday Inn is infamaously known as the "public swimming hole". The management did listen to my complaint, but insisted that the public is a "paying" customer too and have every right to the facilities as well... Needless to say, in the future I will pay the extra $20.00 a night and stay at the Hilton or Mariott only a few blocks away. DONT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A WEEKEND GET AWAY.
