This was the first time that I have stayed at a Melia Hotel. The hotel was lovely. The room was clean with modern furniture, beds were comfortable, rainshower bath was wonderful and the balcony with the oceanview was amazing. The beach was expansive with plenty of chairs. There were nice options for pool locations and enough sunbeds for all.
The all inclusive package was fine. Plenty of fruit and vegetables, a nice variety of meats and scrumptious desserts but no availability of ice cream (except in the market stores for a price). It would have been nice to have some ice cream as a dessert. The onsite dining choices were limited. Although I was at the hotel for 4 nights, I was only able to make a reservation at 1 of the exclusive restaurants...the others were totally booked. It appears that you should call ahead of your arrival to make reservations for specific restaurants.
Having stayed at many resorts before, I was also surprised at the lack of on-site evening entertainment. In the evening there was a singer in the bar area....the talent was lacking and ended at 10 p.m. The only thing at the hotel to do after 10 P.M. was to drink at the one lobby bar. This is fine for people wanting to explore Cancun late at night, but for people looking to stay at the hotel there is nothing more to do. No shows were available...surprising for a resort.
Check-in was quick and efficient. I was offered a choice of rooms.
Check-out was slow....needed to wait for staff to make sure nothing was removed from the mini-bar.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel. I enjoyed my stay.
