The Hotel Telluride is a terrific place to stay. We had never been to Telluride, but booked a trip sight unseen because of what we had heard about the skiing and town. As far as where to stay, we did not have a clue. Turns out the Hotel Telluride was the perfect place! After spending some time there, my suggestion is to stay in town rather than Mountainside Village. The Village is great, especially for the ski-in-out experience and really nice lodging, but I think it's better to stay in town. The Hotel Telluride has a great shuttle service that will take you anywhere you want to go, all the great restaurants are a short shuttle or walk away, and the shuttle will drop you off at the gondola that takes you directly to Mountainside Village and all the skiing you desire. While not ski-in-out, it's pretty darn close and very convenient. The Hotel staff is awesome, super-friendly and helpful, and the hotel and its rooms are beautiful. To really make it convenient, check out Black Tie Ski Rentals. They will come to the hotel, fit you there in the lobby for all your equipment, and leave you with your boots to take up to your room. The skis stay in the lobby, the Hotel staff put them on the Ford Explorer the next morning, take you to the gondola, and 13 minutes later after a beautiful ride, you're skiing awesome terrain. And this place is really affordable...don't know that I have ever received better value from a hotel experience. When we go back to Telluride, we will stay at the Hotel Telluride.
