This hotel is one of the most over priced and over hyped in San Francisco. For the amount that was charged I could have stayed in a 5 star luxury suite. The neighborhood is run down and dirty and the hotel is a basic one at best. The room was small and had just the bare necessities. It was clean. The hallways were dirty and the carpet had not been cleaned in quite while. The parking charge was not advertised and for the price of the room most hotels offer free parking. I was told that I could "park on the street and take my chances if I didn't like the fee." On top of that the hotel charged my card $* as a security fee and then said that I would get my balance back in 5 days if there was one. Having been a manager in the hospitality industry, I found this to be again an unannounced policy and the arrogant manner of the clerk didn't make the matters better. My trip was a last minute one and I made my reservation without a whole lot of planning. That was my fault. The Holiday Inn is at fault for the facilities, prices and policies. I will never stay there again and will tell anyone who asks to look harder before they consider staying there. The travel agency should review their rating and downgrade this one significantly. It is not a four out of five hotel.
