This was probably one of the best hotel experiences that I've ever had. The staff was extraordinarily helpful and courteous. Everyone spoke English very well and treated you with respect and warmth. The concierge were always helpful in recommending restaurants and activities, and helped me book reservations for dinner. The rooms were actually spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was modern and impeccably clean. The cleaning staff were also very friendly and cleaned the room to your schedule instead of to theirs. The restaurant was outstanding. The hotel offers full breakfast choices including a continental buffet, an "American" buffet, and a full breakfast menu. For lunch and dinner, the restaurant turned out very high quality food that was on par with Michelin-rated restaurants. The pumpkin spice soup with crab meat was superb! The bar staff was also friendly, especially the head barman, Pavel. He went out of his way to make your drinking experience a pleasure. The drink menu was considerable and their attention to detail was quite refreshing. One evening, after ordering entres, we realized we were going to be late for the ballet performance at the Mariinsky theater. The wait staff meticulously boxed up our entres, and, when we returned, they graciously reheated and replated the meals and delivered them to our room for a late supper. This was an outstanding hotel experience - on the same level or higher of similar experiences at U.S. Four Seasons, Ritz-Carltons, and W hotels. I will definitely stay here again when I return to St. Petersburg. I may even come visit again sooner than I might otherwise have just because this hotel experience was so good.
