A newly and fully renovated downtown Kansas City hotel, the Crowne Plaza Downtown is, I believe, a well kept secret. Right at the heart of downtown and blocks away from many of the downtown attractions such as walking distance to the Convention Center, Sprint Center and the active colors, restaurants and night life of the Power and Light District. You are greeted by a professional and courtesious front desk manager. Check-in was quick and informative as he gives you a quick orientation of where everything is. Overall service was friendly and professional. The hotel has an attached parking garage which is a great amenity for travelers driving in or having a rental car though it is not free. The elevators of the garage does take you to the guest room floors which makes it very convenient. Security was even thought of by only allowing room keys to access this particular elevator. The room, a King Bed Suite is basically the size of a small apartment. A large living room with office desk (free wireless internet surprisingly), a small refrigerator, a sink, a flatscreen, full couch and chair. And that is just the living room area. Another room opens to a King Size bed, full bathroom with all the amenities as well as another flatscreen TV. The bathroom amenities was more than usual (it even includes a shoe shine buffer and disposable makeup remover for the ladies). The closet is a full-on walk-in closet which is spacious and convenient. A full service Starbucks coffee house is also attached and easily accessable from the lobby and complimentary wireless internet is included. The attached restaurant, the Club Grill, had a good Club Sandwhich for travelers wanting a quick snack without leaving the hotel. Great hotel, good location and professional staff.
