We stayed at The Lodge at Vail during the period 1/12/10-1/16/10. Overall the hotel was very nice but there were some issues. We arrived extremely tired and tried to get to bed early; unfortunately, our room (303) was situated overlooking the drive-up entrance to the hotel and we could hear bell-hops talking loudly with late-arriving customers and with each other until the after midnight. The toilet would bubble and "burp" loudly anytime the rooms near by flushed. This was really annoying. Futher, the shower/tub didn't drian propertly, so we took our first showers standing in about 3-4 inches of water. Also, the piano music from the lounge on the 2nd floor drifted up the stairs and into our room. Needless to say, sleep was hard to come by our 1st nite! We called the next morning and requested a room change and the front desk accomodated our request. The second room, also on the 3rd floor (308) was much more quiet without the problems of our 1st room. Overall, this is a nice hotel and the employees are polite and accomodating. The "delux" room we upgraded to was still really small; I can't imagine what the standard lodge room would be like? The location is the best in Vail...almost at the bottom of the main ski lift. You cannot stay closer to the Vista Bahn lift! I guess one must trade the superb location for a small and expensive room that may be loud and quirky. I would still recommend the Lodge at Vail, but avoid rooms near the lounge and the drive up entrance!
