I know London very well, having lived there in the eighties, and I really had high hopes for this hotel. It is in a great location, just across the road from Hyde Park and steps from Lancaster Gate tube station. However, the rooms were just horrible. The decor is dated and worn. The photos of the rooms were taken very "creatively!" They must think that slapping a flat screen TV on the wall constitutes updating the room but it doesn't. The bar and restaurant are completely devoid of character and the staff are rude. I had invited a friend to meet me there for dinner and I was so embarrassed by the way she was treated by the barstaff. No manager was available to discuss this.Thankfully, there are a few very nice (if pricey) restaurants nearby. If all you're looking for is a hotel near a tube station for convenience, then this is OK. I will not waste my money here again. London really has much more to offer than this overpriced, impersonal hotel.
