I would definitely live here or stay for a long while, but as far as romantic getaway, I would stay further down the strip.
The beach out front was rockier than other parts of the beach, and had rental peddlers dominating the best spots. It was also close to the pier where the boats came in, so there would occassionally be floods of tourists invading the beach.
The walk from the hotel to the International Marketplace is a bit of a trek, but it is close to Wailana Restraurant and Cocktail Lounge which is a great place for breakfast (try thier coconut pancakes) and late night karaoke. We slept with the lanai door open, so there was a lot of street noise that woke us up every morning (imagine garbage trucks and beach combing tractors).
I didn't know from reading the online reviews of this place that it's a condominium with owners renting out their flats. It would be great for a long vacation where you need things like a kitchen and a washer and dryer, but we were looking for a romantic getaway and this was a little too practical for our taste.
The staff was super friendly, and we really loved the front desk guy
