Booked this hotel for 4 nights this summer through Travelocity. When we arrived, the desk clerk informed us that we could 'only stay one night.' His reason was that we had 5 people and that they only allow 4 per room. He actually accused us of trying to cheat, saying that we should have booked for 5 if we were going to travel with 5. When I produced my confirmation that clearly showed a reservation for 2 adults and 3 children, his response was: 'I don't care.'
This situation was extremely frustrating since we were in town for a wedding and chose this location to be close to the rest of the guests as well as the wedding site. We finally ended up staying at another hotel on the opposite end of the island.
As we left this Best Western, my kids (ages 13, 10, and 5) began asking questions about the television program that was on behind the desk, but clearly visible to customers (and obviously to children). Neither my wife nor I noticed the program - probably because we were so shocked by the situation and the outright hostility of the desk clerk. The two older kids quickly describd to us that the program was showing some sort of human autopsy - and apparently a quite graphic version at that! Totally inappropriate for a hotel lobby!
We have reported the situation to both Travelocity and Best Western. Travelocity is still investigating. Best Western's response was that they have spoken with the clerk and that he says he was not rude and that they hope we will consider them for our future travel needs - not likely!
I am forced to rate room quality, cleanliness, and bed comfort as terrible since I was unable to experience any of them.
