I found this jewel of a hotel on aonline travel website. It was a great value, and less than 1/2 the cost of a ""luxury resort"" we stayed at in PC.. The PuntaCana Hotel is one of the oldest resorts on the island and counts Oscar De La Renta as one of its original investors. You can imagine the attention to detail and quiet elegance of this place. The 1500 acre ecological preserve was magnificent, and my wife and I greatly enjoyed swimming in the limestone pools in this protected forest.
The staff was kind and gracious--generally friendly and helpful. By the second day one of the wait staff would fill my orange juice glass without my asking.
An excellent value for the traveller who likes peace and quiet. Lots of sophisticated savvy European travelers here and an electric mix of US folks also--young and old--a pleasant group.
