Just returned to Boston last night from a 7 night stay at the Westin Lucaya. What a fantastic time we had! Overall, the resort is incredible for a family with many pools (although the water was strangely cold) and a beautiful beach. Hot tubs not well cared for and cold. Room was spacious with great balcony overlooking the marketplace. Beds were very comfortable with great linens. Bathrooms were not so ""heavenly"" but were adequate. On-site restaurants were very pricey so we opted to eat across the street at the marketplace -- Zorbas, Pisces, Lucianos, Le Med were all great and reasonably priced. In fact, 5 of us ate breakfast at Zorbas for the price of one buffet at the Westin's breakfast buffet. Be sure to get your daily ""gullywasher"" (aka tropical drink) on your way out. Our room was spacious with a great balcony overlooking the busy marketplace. We took a fun tour on a glass bottomed boat that was great. So was the Dolphin Experience at Unexso a short walk across the street with the finned friends. The concierge at the hotel wasn't the most helpful -- I think she would have sold us anything to get her commission. She booked us on an Island Bus Tour which took us to an abandoned ""International Bazaar"". As we pulled up the bus driver told us how great it was before the 2004 hurricane but that it was all but defunct -- then he said we would spend 35 minutes there!! The only good part of the tour was the trip to the Lucayan Garden because it gave us a sample of native Bahamian flora (and we had a hilarious native guide.) The bus tour took two hours longer than stated and it was a big waste of time.
