We are delighted to be returning to the Dana Place Inn this year for February school vacation. Our stay last year was relaxed and comfortable, and the food was truly excellent. This older inn had many quaint touches, an extremely pleasant and helpful staff, and a fabulous location just outside of the White Mountain National Forest, at the foot of MT. Washington. Our room was large, pleasant and clean, the beds comfortably firm, and the overall experience a bargain for the price. Our 7 year old son loved snaking his way through the various hallways (think a country home, with ""'ells"") to the pool and hot tub. We all appreciated the 'apres-ski' snacks available in the lounge area in the afternoons. We also loved seeing the birds at the feeder just outside the breakfast room window. Unlike some older hotels or cheap, newer ones, we found no problem with tthe noise level-it was peaceful. While the TV was on the small side and the building an antique, we found it charming. If you are looking for sterile uniformity, go to a big box hotel. This diginified yet easygoing country inn made us feel welcomed and well cared for. We can't wait to see the renovations ! The other guests tended toward famillies, with a few younger couples thrown in.
